Convenient Access from Wayland
One state road links the historic heart of Wayland Center to our front door. SOAP Dental is about 11 minutes south in Natick Center, which makes it a simple choice of dentist Wayland, MA families can reach without a single highway ramp. Dr. Bob Cheng provides checkups, orthodontic care, repairs and urgent treatment for every age, all from one general practice.
Begin at the Free Public Library at 5 Concord Road, and take Concord Road (Route 126) to Cochituate Road. Cochituate Road carries Routes 27 and 126 south through the village of Cochituate, then Route 27 becomes Main Street and North Main Street as it enters Natick. Middlesex Avenue branches off Route 27 near Natick Center, and the whole run is about 6.1 miles with no tolls.
Weekday rush hour can slow the stretch near Natick Center, so give yourself a little cushion around 8:00AM. We are at 7A Middlesex Ave, Natick, MA 01760, about a tenth of a mile from Natick Center station; find SOAP Dental on Google Maps to save the pin. Drivers coming from Cochituate or Weston share much of the same approach.
Bringing Wayland Patients Down Route 27 to Natick Center
Wayland began as the eastern half of Sudbury. The two were one town from 1639 until 1779, East Sudbury broke away in 1780, and the name changed to Wayland in 1835. The 1881 train station later helped turn the town into a Boston commuter suburb, and its historic center still reflects that long story.
The village center's historic district, listed on the National Register in 1974, sits where Route 20 meets Cochituate Road. The town sits in Middlesex County, the same county as our office. Its 1815 meetinghouse holds a bell cast by Paul Revere's firm, and most of the surrounding one- and two-story wood-frame buildings date from before 1850. The town library on Concord Road is often described as arguably the first free public library in Massachusetts.
Because Route 27 runs straight from that historic center into Natick, a trip to our office feels like an extension of a familiar drive. Pairing a cleaning with other errands in Natick Center turns it into one easy loop. Our hours run 8:00AM to 5:00PM on weekdays, with Saturday mornings available by appointment only.
What Wayland Parents and Teens Should Know About Dental Health
The town runs six public schools, from the elementary grades up through Wayland High School. Those years bring growth spurts, shifting teeth and plenty of time on the playing field. A steady schedule of checkups helps the dentist follow each stage and spot crowding, decay or wear early.
School sports bring a real risk of chipped or broken front teeth. Tooth-colored bonding can often repair a small chip in a single visit, while a bigger break may call for a crown. Mouthguards and a quick call after any hard hit to the face are the two habits that protect teeth most.
Digital X-rays help us move quickly when something goes wrong. They deliver images immediately with reduced radiation, so Dr. Cheng can check the root and surrounding bone during the same appointment. An intraoral camera then shows you the problem area on screen, which helps teens and parents understand the plan together.
Orthodontic questions tend to surface in the middle school years, when crowding or a deep bite becomes easier to see. Dr. Cheng checks alignment at routine exams and talks through braces, clear braces or Invisalign® when the timing looks right. The iTero® scanner captures a digital 3D model of the teeth instead of traditional impressions, which most kids find far more comfortable.
Working adults get the same flexibility. The first appointment of the day starts at 8:00AM, so a commuter can finish a cleaning and still reach a desk in Boston or along Route 128 by mid-morning.
Summer afternoons at the Town Beach on Lake Cochituate's North Pond and the Great Meadows refuge lands along the Sudbury River make the town a busy, outdoor place. Booking routine visits during school breaks keeps them from colliding with the fall and spring sports seasons.
Treatments From a Dentist Wayland, MA Patients Reach on Route 27
Orthodontics
Traditional braces, clear braces, Invisalign® and retainers are available for children, teens and adults. Middle and high school students in town can start treatment with appointments set around their class and practice schedules.
General Dentistry
Cleanings, exams, oral cancer screenings, sealants and custom nightguards are the backbone of good care. Regular visits keep small issues from turning into larger, costlier repairs.
Emergency Treatment
Severe tooth pain, gum emergencies, sports injuries and broken braces wires all receive prompt attention. Our team keeps time open for urgent cases whenever possible.
Root Canal Therapy
When infection reaches the inside of a tooth, a gentle root canal clears it and preserves the natural tooth. A crown often follows to protect it for years of chewing.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Veneers, bonding, whitening and smile makeovers refresh the look of your teeth. Graduation photos and family milestones are natural moments to think about a brighter smile.

LOOK NO FURTHER & book an appointment! I have neglected my teeth for too long but feel absolutely refreshed and hopeful after my visit to Soap Dental. Super clean, easy to find, lots of parking, and extremely relaxed environment. There was never a moment I didnโt feel at ease as to what was going on and was checked in with multiple times to make sure I was comfortable. We spent some time talking about my goals and how we can get there, hallelujah! Iโm actually looking forward to going back next week to get some fillings & sealant applied ๐คฏ. This is such a great establishment, and if youโre like me and need an all-in-one dental facility I cannot recommend this one enough. Your mouth is in great hands. ๐ฉตPosted on Google![]()

Very lovely place. I got my teeth whitened here and from the moment I walked in for my appointment, I was greeted and taken care off. Front desk staff / assistant was super attentive. The office is lovely, once I walked into my room they greeted me with a large TV and my name on it and made me feel comfortable during my teeth whitening session. The doctor is very kind and makes sure you're comfortable during your visit. Frequent check ups during the appointment from the staff / doctor. Would recommend anyone to come here for all your teeth needs!!Posted on Google![]()

If your in need of a dentist, look no further. I have not been to a dentist since the dark ages and was fairly anxious. Dr Cheng was kind and patient and listened to my sad story with compassion and helpful suggestions regarding my treatment. Minus the guilt trip. He will work with you throughout the process and you might just feel a little better. Mouthwize anyway. Try not to watch Marathon Man before you go.Posted on Google![]()

Frequently Asked Questions
How far is SOAP Dental from Wayland, and how do I get there?
It is a 6.1-mile trip, usually about 11 minutes, from Wayland Center. Take Concord Road to Cochituate Road (Routes 27 and 126), stay on Route 27 through Cochituate into Natick, then turn onto Middlesex Avenue. That single road makes our office an easy dentist Wayland, MA drivers can reach without merging onto Route 9 or the Pike.
Can Wayland patients get an inlay or onlay instead of a full crown?
Often, yes. An inlay or onlay repairs a damaged back tooth while keeping more of the natural structure than a full crown. Dr. Cheng recommends one when decay or a broken filling is too large for a regular filling but the tooth walls are still strong. Digital X-rays and an iTero scan help him plan the fit.
What should a Wayland athlete do after chipping a tooth in a game?
Save any broken pieces, rinse gently and call the office as soon as practice ends. A small chip can often be repaired with tooth-colored bonding, while a deeper break may need a crown. If the tooth is loose or knocked out, quick care gives the strongest chance of keeping it, so do not wait until the weekend.
Can Wayland adults get clear braces instead of metal ones?
Yes, clear braces are one of the orthodontic options at the office, along with traditional braces and Invisalign. Clear brackets blend in with the teeth, so they are less noticeable than metal. Dr. Cheng starts with an evaluation of your teeth and bite, then compares the choices, timeline and costs before treatment begins.
What does the $59 emergency exam include?
The $59 emergency exam includes a visual examination of the problem area, an X-ray and a review of your treatment options. It is available to new patients only. After the exam, Dr. Cheng explains what he found and what each option involves, so you can decide on next steps with clear information.
